Things Every Mom should have on their Summer Bucket List

Things Every Mom should have on their Summer Bucket List

Summers are pretty amazing. Summers with young kids are even better. The days are longer, and the nights are warmer. Everything feels a little bit lighter without the stress of the busy school year. Summer is for endless opportunities for fun (and learning).

To help you make the most of your time together we’ve put together this summer bucket list with ideas that are sure to please all members of the family.

Outdoor Activities

Summer is for spending more time outdoors. From taking a trip to exploring your backyard, there is a lot to do:

1.     Pool day or beach day
2.     Swim in a lake or stream
3.     Draw with sidewalk chalk
4.     Have a picnic in your backyard or a local park
5.     Create a lemonade stand in your front yard
6.     Go for family bike rides
7.     Run through the sprinkler to cool down in the yard
8.     Work on your garden
9.     Set up a hammock and relax, or read together
10.  Water balloon “fights”
11.  Stargaze at night
12.  Try a new sport
13.  Play yard games like bocce or cornhole

15.  If you live where there are fireflies, go out and catch them
16.  Visit your local parks and playgrounds
17.  Play flashlight tag
18.  Play catch
19.  Play in the rain
20.  Tie dye (this is a messy activity so we suggest doing it outside)
21.  Take a road trip
22.  Make S’mores over a campfire or firepit

Indoor Activities

Not every summer day can be bright and sunny. Sometimes we get rainy days or it’s a little too hot and we need to cool down. Staying indoors doesn’t have to be boring:

1.     Make a fort
2.     Have a sleepover
3.     Make your own pizzas and have a movie night (or afternoon)
4.     Write a story
5.     Dance
6.     Make a craft
7.     Draw or paint
8.     Have friends over or go visit friends
9.     Try karaoke
10.  Do an indoor scavenger hunt
11.  Play a board game
12.  Make a fairy garden
13.  Visit a pet store and see the animals
14.  Visit a local museum
15.  Do a jigsaw puzzle
16.  Bake cupcakes or cookies
17.  Make and watch a slideshow of old family photos
18.  Do a science experiment
19.  Read out loud
20.  Play Would You Rather and get imaginations going
21.  Make a sensory bin
